CS Subfield Diversity Study

Within computing, dozens of research subfields—ranging from systems, networks, and software algorithms to methodologies, theory, and human-centered computing—solve complex problems and accelerate advancement. This project, funded by the National Science Foundation, has two aims:

1) To quantify the subfield participation of U.S. racial and ethnic minority computer scientists, including industry, academic, and government lab participation.

2) To gain an understanding of how computing researchers choose their research subfields.

Understanding the mechanisms of subfield segregation is crucial for developing interventions that will address root causes of underrepresentation.

Help us by taking a survey and/or asking your colleagues to take a survey!

The survey will be coming soon.
